Things looked rosy in the first over when Ed Pike found the edge of Ross Antrobus’ bat and was well caught behind by wicket-keeper Dan Tidey. The Farnham Common batsmen of Randip Lochab and Felix Dibsdall regrouped and took the attack to our bowling before Harvey Grinham dismissed Dibsdall for 24.
Hassan Mallick joined Lochab and the pair built a large and aggressive partnership as their clever hitting and intelligent running left our Third Team on the ropes. Once Lochab was dismissed for a very good 74, the carnage continued as Matthew Brown smashed 65 to all aparts of Farnham Common. Mallick batted superbly to finish the innings unbeaten on 145 as our hosts finished on 334-5 off their 45 overs. The Third Team did the best, but the difference in class showed. The highlight for our club was Harry Grinham (pictured) picking up his first League wickets as he finished with 2-29 from his five overs.
A target of 334 was always going to be a very big ask and the strong Farnham Common attack bowled out our Third Team for 121 inside 37 overs. Captain Mark Bater top scored with 20 while only four other batsmen reached double figures.
