The Piranhas registered their first win after a clinical display at Beaconsfield on Tuesday night.

Toby Seagrave, captain for the day had no hesitation in batting first after winning the toss. The opening par of Ben Criddle and Chris Curry (both pictured) started well by running hard between the wickets and then finding the boundary on numerous occasions in the powerplay.

Curry was eventually dismissed for 18 after playing a nice cameo and was replaced by Nick Grant. Criddle continued to pepper the boundary with shots all around the ground including a massive straight six that ended up in Beaconsfield High Street. Criddle was eventually dismissed for a very good 58.

The dismissal of Criddle sparked a mini collapse and it was left to John Graham and wicket-keeper David Crane to put some fresh momentum into the innings. Crane finished the innings unbeaten on a very good 41 which included 14 runs off the final over as he led the Piranhas to 184-5 from our 20 overs.

The Beaconsfield reply started poorly with them losing their opening three wickets in the first three overs if their innings. Jake Seagrave picked up two wickets, both of which where bowled, while Ben Bezani picked up the other wicket with James Wheeler taking a smart catch at third man.

The fourth wicket partnership by Ashraf and Mitchell steadied the innings but Beaconsfield were still well below the run rate. Josh Camm, who had a brief spell at Beaconsfield ended their partnership with his occasional off breaks when he had Mitchell smartly caught at extra cover by acting captain Toby Seagrave. Camm bowled an excellent spell and picked up another wicket as he had Catherwood-Smith smartly stumped by Crane. This was the first of three stumpings by David Crane, which along with his 41 not out, earned him the man of the match award.

Nick Grant bowled the final over of the innings, dismissing Ashraf for 74 after more smart work by Crane as we closed out the game to win by 50 runs.
