Watford Town won the toss and batted first on a warm Friday evening but were quickly reduced to 25-3 with Nick Grant, Andy Grout and Duncan Marriott all picking up a wicket each.
The Watford Town middle order fought back with Murg topscoring as the hosts posted 161-7 from their 20 overs. Vice-captain Toby Seagrave was the pick of the bowlers taking 3-32 from his four overs with captain James Wheeler taking a couple of good catches at backward point.
The Piranhas response was hurt by the early loss of Wheeler, Solly Woodall and Josh Camm. Dan Tidey batting at three, led the Piranhas fightback with good support from Finn Graham and Ben Westcott. Tidey struck the ball to all parts in scoring a aggressive 71 which included four mammoth sixes. He was powerful through ‘the V’ and also found the offside boundary with two excellent reverse sweeps. When he was dismissed the Piranhas chances of victory faded as they eventually finished 11 runs short.
