We batted well, and whilst we only lost 3 wickets, Gerrards Cross fielded very well, with some great throwing to the wicket. 21 runs for Kit and Joey, and 28 runs to Barnaby and Mal (which included 2 fours for Barnaby and 1 for Mal). We finished our innings on 277.
I felt our bowling and fielding was great tonight. We chased balls well and kept our concentration up all game, especially important in a hardball game. Thomas and Kit shared the wicket keeping and both did a fantastic job.
Bowling highlights include Joey with 3 clean wickets, 2 wickets for Charlie, one caught by Thomas and one by Max, a wicket each for Joshy, Max and Matthew and 2 clean wickets for Thomas. Ollie's confidence grew with his second over and gave only a few runs away. 10 wickets made a huge difference to our score and Gerrards Cross finished on 223.
What I loved most about this game was how well the boys worked together. Some of the boys playing tonight were experiencing their first game of hardball cricket and I felt they coped so well with the challenge. I also felt that the boys with more experience did a fantastic job helping these boys and showed great support, and encouraged them well.
As always, huge thanks to Niall for umpiring the game and for Steve who came along to support the boys.
