Match Report v Old Albanians

After our prematch chat about being careful of overthrows and no fortnite dancing allowed on the pitch, the boys fielded first. Joshy and Louis opened the bowling against a very strong batting pair. With no wides for Joshy, and only one from Louis, I was really impressed how well they did. Next bowling was Jake and Charlie R. It was great to see Jake get a wicket, superbly caught by wicket keeper Charlie R. Charlie C and Ollie also bowled well, and the final pairing of Sam and Barnaby did great, with Barnaby bowling no wides. What I was most impressed with was the boys fielding. They concentrated well and worked brilliantly as a team. Apart from one or two overthrows, their fielding was faultless. Such an improvement from last season. OA's were a very strong batting team and finished at 322 for 1 wicket.

Quite a score to beat, but we fought bravely when we batted. As with their batting, OA were a very good bowling team, making it hard to score many runs. But all the boys worked well in their pairs and communicated well. Sam and Barnaby batting last got some runs between them, and it was great to see Sam batting so well seeing as this was his first bit of cricket since last season.

So although we lost the game, some real positives to take from it. We were playing an exceptional team who have played twice already this season, and this was our first game. I don't think we could have done much more to improve our game. We were just beaten by a better side.
