We left the best till last with this performance.

Charlie won the toss and we elected to bat in very warm conditions. We changed our normal opening pair to put a little more pressure on the Berkhamsted opening bowlers. Jacob Hendin and Tom Powell-Williams got off to a flyer with a partnership of 22 off the first two overs before Tom nicked one on the inside to the keeper. Ed came in for Tom and the run rate increased until Ed retired at 41 with the score at 86/1 off 7 overs. Berkhamsted then started to bring the run rate back a bit with the next four overs going for only 15. Charlie was bowled during this period pulling across the line to Charlie Lound (I'm sure he wont hear the last of that at School for a while).

Finn and Ben Westcott then came in and pushed the score along nicely scoring 13 and 24 respectively. Rhys Hanling was unfortunately run out. Sam Hawkins helped push the score to a very good 175 with a quick fire 24 off 18 balls. A great effort by the Tring boys with all of Berkhamsted's bowlers going at over 7 per over.

With such a great total it was always going to be difficult for Berkhamsted and they were always behind the run rate from over 1. Ed and Finn bowled well for their opening spell of 3 overs each with Ed taking the important wicket of C Doe for 16. Berkhamsted 42/1 off 6. Charlie and Tom were the first change bowlers and Tom took 2 wickets and Charlie 1. They strangled the run rate and after 11 overs they were 58/4 (we were 101/2 in comparison). Sam Hawkins and Ben Westcott were the next bowlers and Sam despite going for a 6 off his second ball had the last laugh by taking 2 wickets clean bowled and finished with figures of 10 runs/2 wickets off 2 overs.

Rhys, Jacob Hendin, Matt Cave and David Williams finished the innings with a wicket for Matt Cave and 3 run outs as they chased the 175 total.

A great to finish the season. We wish the best of luck to Berkhamsted in their 1/4 final against Shenley. We know how hard they are to play after last season.
