Thanks to everyone who helped us beat a good Bushey team last night. Especially Oli Francis from the U12s and Juud Farrant U13s.

On a lovely sunny evening, cheered on by the local wildlife, a couple of ducks and up to half a dozen rats happily feeding on the bread left out for the ducks uncomfortably close to my position scoring.

Tom was captain for the day, we lost the toss and were put in the field.

Bushey’s openers were very strong and they got off to a flyer. We were fearing chasing a very high total when they were 84 for 3 off 13 overs but fought back really well with Bushey scoring just 2 runs off the last four overs, bowling them out for 105 with 1 ball to spare. It was a great all round performance in the field taking all our catches form Louis, a superb diving catch from Jacob Stewart and a smart run out from George. Pick of the bowlers, Matt 2 for 9 off three overs and a wicket maiden, George 2 for 10, Juud 1 for 9, Finlay Marshall 1 for 12 and a maiden over from Jacob towards the end of the innings.

Tom and Natalie opened the batting and were told to take things steady and play themselves in. Against two very quick bowlers they did superbly seeing off the quick bowlers without losing a wicket. In came their less quick bowlers and the fireworks started. Tom let loose, retiring on 28, Matt then came in retiring on 26 and then Louis and Ben finished off the game, both not out on 20 and 15 respectively with a six each, beating their total with just under 7 overs to go.

Player of the match goes to Matt Cave with two wickets and 26 runs, who must have pleased his first aid course was postponed ?
