Down To The Last Over

Tring won the toss and again elected to bat on a hot muggy day in West London. Hayes looked to have the best opening attack we have seen this season with a useful left armer and a player dropped down from their two's.

We lost one early wicket but the Nick W's batted sensibly to see off the new ball and pushed on against what was still a good attack. N Wale perished for 44 and the chairman (pictured) produced another high score . An excellent 84 looking shattered when he came off!

Harvey Graham looked in good nick scoring an unbeaten 37 but the return of the opening bowlers worked for Hayes slowing us at the end. We posted a respectable 195-6.

The Hayes opening bats had both got Tons the week before and they started strongly enjoying pace on the ball. Tring tried to slow things down with Grouty and Nick Wale taking pace off . This worked without wickets falling until Grouty produced a triple wicket maiden getting both openers and the 2's player who tried to hit him onto the A40 and was caught by Harvey.

This changed the game Nick Wale picked up a couple of wickets with catch of the season from Jimmy Dewhirst. Harvey Graham
picked up a couple a well.It was going to the wire but Hayes had the rub of the green with a couple of balls dropping between fielders and a couple of lusty blows coming off. Despite a great run out from Matt Cave Hayes got home in the last over 8 down.

Disappointing to lose but again great credit to the Tring team who stuck at it and almost got over the line
