The Second Team beat Gerrards Cross by 91 runs to secure promotion to Division 2 as their closest rivals, Chiswick & Whitton, lost to Datchet by one wicket.

Winning the toss and batting first, the Second Team's total of 227 for 7 from their 45 overs was largely built around 83 from Ali Partner (pictured), he played attacking shots to score seven fours and when he couldn’t find the boundary the running between the wickets was very good as he pushed the ball into spaces in the field and kept the scoreboard ticking over.

He shared a third wicket partnership of 45 with Solly Woodall and then put on 84 for the fourth wicket with Ant McCormack. Some late hitting from Toby Wastling and Steve Dutch saw the Second Team to their total as 47 runs were scored from the last six overs.

An excellent display by all the bowlers meant that Gerrards Cross were never seriously in the hunt for victory. Even Jake Seagrave who was not rewarded with a wicket, beat the bat on numerous occasions and conceded just 27 runs from ten overs. Paul Orton bowled economically and took 1 for 19 from eight overs.

But the pick of the bowlers again was Lawrence Snookes who picked up where he left off last week to bowl full, fast and straight. He took two early wickets as he had both openers back in the pavilion with only 13 runs on the board; the first a good leg side catch by Dutch to give him the first of three catches at the wicket.

Angus Cumming put in a good spell of off break bowling. He turned the ball significantly and the pick of his spell was probably the ball that pitched well outside off stump and hit the top of middle to bowl Haroon Mohammad. He then dismissed Gary Hales who had scored 22 from his last eleven balls and four overs later accounted for Raheel Zaman as Wastling took a good running catch on the long off boundary in front of the pavilion.

Wastling then brought himself into the attack. He took two wickets in three balls before there was a late flurry as the last pair put on 23 for the final wicket before he took the final wicket to bring up victory.
