Both openers were dismissed in the space of six balls as Paul Orton struck and then Mo Choudhry. Sheridon Gumbs took a wicket with his third ball and Jake Seagrave enjoyed success in the early party of his spell as he took two wickets for 14 runs in five overs.
A target of 270 in 48 overs proved beyond too many despite the fast outfield as they hung on for a draw with the last pair at the wicket. Five players got starts but none got to fifty as wickets fell regularly after a solid opening partnership of 55 between Sheridon Gumbs and Solly Woodall. Ant McCormack, called up from the Third Team, was in very good touch with 41, which helped to hold the middle order together.
Charlie Greer scored an entertaining 42 not out, the highlight being a huge six over mid on. He scored 32 from his first 20 balls and with a scoring rate approaching 10 an over, as victory was still on. But after a flurry of wickets Greer had to be more circumspect as he and Dave Crane batted out the final 32 balls for a draw.
