Photo is of Will Darraugh who scored his first half century of the season for the Second Team on Saturday.
After a slow start by Gerrards Cross as they scored just 72 runs from their first 30 overs, our Seond Team lost any realistic chance of victory as 188 were scored by visitors from the final 22 overs. Burhan Mirza was particularly severe, scoring 106 from 68 balls. He was well supported by Haroon Mohammad who scored 90 not out.
We were never up with the rate required as we pursued 261 for victory in 48 overs. Will Darraugh and Mo Choudhry both batted well for 52 and 48 respectively. At 140-4 after 35 overs a draw was easily in our grasp, but there was a flurry of wickets and with a ball and with over six overs remaining, nine wickets had fallen. There was a tense end as Jake Seagrave and Paul Orton batted out for a draw.
The Second Team remain in second place in the League, seven points clear of third placed Chiswick & Whitton. They travel to 8th placed Sonning next weekend.
