Set a target of 219 for victory, Datchet were well placed at 136 -3 in the 30th over with captain Tom Jones well set on 29 from 24 balls. He was then defeated by Chris Curry’s swing to be out LBW. Charlie Greer was then re-introduced into the attack and in his second spell of a ball short of five overs he took 4 wickets for 18 runs as Datchet offered little further resistance and were dismissed for 177 to give our Second Team a 41 run victory.
Our total of 218-9 was largely due to Matt Grinham, playing his first game of the season, who scored 107 not out. He helped lay a solid foundation to the innings with a first wicket partnership of 63 in 16 overs with Richard Ambrose who scored 33. Will Darraugh scored 26 and Charlie Greer 20, but neither pressed on to reach a larger total that had at one time looked possible.
