Soon after the innings started rain started to fall and after ten overs the players left the field. An early tea was taken but soon after three o’clock with the rain still falling and no break in the clouds forecast the game was abandoned. In our brief innings Tom Calder, who was promoted to open, played an innings of two distinct parts. After 12 balls he had not scored, but after a further 17 balls had moved on to 27 as he took advantage of a very short boundary on one side of the ground.
When Krissie Mistry erred slightly in line and length, Will Darraugh played the shot of the day as he pounced to produce a very well timed and hard hit cut shot that raced to the longer point boundary. He was looking well set when the weather dashed his hopes of a good score that looked to be there for the taking.
