The second eleven’s 27 run victory was in some doubt as NPL raced to 78 for 1 in 14 overs in pursuit of 225 thanks to 66 from 50 balls by captain Tom Gallyer. But when Paul Orton was introduced to the attack it took him just three balls to dispose of him as he pulled the ball to Toby Wastling at midwicket. Orton went on to take 3 for 35 as NPL were bowled out for 197.
Newcomer Mo Choudhry bowled well, conceding just 29 runs from ten overs and picking up two wickets including one with the third ball of the match.
Tring Park’s 224 for 9 perhaps could have been more if one of the four players who scored 20 or more had gone beyond 50. The main contributions were by opener Richard Ambrose who scored 30 and Toby Wastling who was out two short of a half century.
