Ricci leads the way with wickets and runs again

Tring Park 2nd XI drew for the second consecutive week. They remain top of division 3B but only by virtue of having lost none to Amersham 2’s one loss, who are level on points, but have a game in hand. Interesting times are ahead in the next three weeks. Chenies & Latimer have played the same number of games as Tring Park and lie five points behind in third place. Chenies have no fixture this Saturday and play Amersham the next week when Tring Park have no fixture. And the week after that Tring Park visit Amersham. So by then things may look much clearer at the top of the table.

At OMT, Tring Park found themselves chasing a target of 258 in 49 overs after the home side had declared after 51 overs. This was largely due to captain, Kavir Vedd’s 86. Most of the Tring bowlers toiled away on a hot afternoon, but conceded too many runs. Only Ricci Trenti came out with any credit; 50 runs were scored from his 11 overs and he picked up a couple of wickets.

Trenti had the most success with the bat too as he scored 52 from 58 balls. Usman Khan was promoted to open the innings and scored a patient 43. Tring Park were reasonably well poised with 116 runs needed from the last fifteen overs and with seven wickets in hand, but the scoring rate did not match what was needed. With six overs left, more than two runs a ball were required, and there was a flurry of wickets as they tried to maintain the scoring rate. That left an anxious last over has Paul Orton batted out for the draw.
