Tring Park 2nd XI win first two league matches since when?

Tring Park 2nd XI have won their first two league games of the season. When did this last happen? Who knows? Certainly not since 2001 when results started to be recorded on the internet.

Victory was largely down to Adam Ali who opened the batting and after the loss of an early wicket played cautiously at the start. He was joined by Matt Grinham for a second partnership of 101 in just over sixteen overs. Grinham continued his good form from the previous game, but this time played more aggressively and was particularly severe on anything loose in has run a ball 54. With victory in sight Ali increased the tempo, scoring 25 from his last six balls and securing the win with a straight six that clattered into the sight screen.

Tring Park’s modest target of 135 was thanks to and all round effort as wickets were taken by five bowlers. Dan Boniface led the way bowling eleven overs unchanged for just 18 runs and picking up the wickets of both openers thanks to catches by wicket keeper Steve Dutch, the first a good diving catch taken in front of first slip. Adam Ali showed his ability with the ball as he took the next three wickets. Kamran Ali then took two wickets to leave Gerrards Cross on 80 for 8. Ash Haw then reduced the score to 98 for 3 thanks to a stunning catch by James Bushe at extra cover. There was than a revival as Haroon Mohammed and Peter Dorman added 35 for the ninth wicket. Mohammed had scored a patient 43 from 81 balls before Toby Wastling’s second ball cut back and bowled him between bat and pad. Two balls later the final wicket fell as Dorman played a lofted shot to mid off to be caught by Boniface.
