In their reply Finchley lost two early wickets, soon fell behind the required rate and the game ambled to its inevitable conclusion.
Richard Ambrose’s century dominated the Tring Park innings. He reached his fifty from 49 balls with the first of four sixes and took just another thirty balls to reach 100. He shared an 80 run third wicket partnership with Mo Choudhry and one of 113 for the fourth with Sanjoy Bassi who batted patiently in his debut innings.
The Finchley bowlers produced some good balls that either moved away or bounced a little more than expected but these were interspersed with enough scoring opportunities for the scoring rate to romp along at over seven an over assisted further by 68 extras and five penalty runs.
When Finchley batted they were soon in trouble as Choudhry bowled Farooq with the fourth ball of the innings. There was further success in the fourth over with a first wicket in England for Australian Nick Grant.
Finchley played shots in their attempt to reach the target, but with three wickets for captain Toby Wastling, two for Paul Orton and one each for Sanjoy Bassi and Chris Powell they fell forty runs short.
