Given the reduced overs the toss will play a major part in the match and this advantage went to Aston Rowant captain Joshua Smith who won the toss and with the exposed green top had no hesitation in inserting our First Team.
The host made good use of the early favoured bowling conditions. Our opening batsmen got off to a decent start before AJ Woodland was dismissed for a good looking 18. Charlie Macdonell and David Burnell (pictured) fought back with a hard-working partnership which was then ended when Macdonell was dismissed by Alan Duncan.
Burnell continued his decent form top scoring with 52 from 55 as wickets fell around him. Wickets tumbled as the First Team collapsed from 129-3 to 175-9 as the innings closed after 39 overs.
As expected, with the wicket drying out it became easier and easier to bat and the Aston Rowant opening pair of George Reid and James Coles capitalised on this putting on an opening stand of 147. Coles finished on 91 not out as the hosts chased the target inside 27 overs.
Together this team can turn around the situation we find ourselves in and get clear of the relegation zone.
