Shelvin Gumbs back in charge after being unavailable on the opening weekend, won the toss and opted to bat. With it being early season, the team was made up from players from both the First and Second Teams with players looking for vital match practise before the start of the League season.
In cold and windy conditions, openers Charlie Macdonell and Matt Grinham made a positive start putting on 48 for the first wicket before the latter was dismissed for a very good 19. Captain Gumbs and Macdonell were dismissed soon after as our visitors fought back as they continued to pick up wickets on a regular basis. The immovable Michael Payne led our resistance, top scoring with a very good 70 from 94 balls as he led us to a respectable total of 187 after he received good support from Tom Weymes.
Chesham batted responsibly in their reply as they chased down our total with the loss of only one wicket. Alex Morgan top scored for our visitors with 92 while our new spinner Sanjoy Bassi picked up our only wicket.
