THE DAVID KEMPSTER MEMORIAL TROPHY

THE DAVID KEMPSTER MEMORIAL TROPHY

George Bezani6 Aug 2021 - 13:30

Sunday 29th August

THE DAVID KEMPSTER MEMORIAL TROPHY
VENUE – TRING PARK CRICKET CLUB
DATE - SUNDAY 29TH AUGUST 2021 (12PM ARRIVAL FOR A 1PM START)

After missing last year’s game due to “stupid” COVID, the “Twiggy Trophy” will be contested again by Tring and Long Marston.

Having failed to beat “the village outfit” in previous encounters, Tring hope to turn the tables on their great friends this year. The home team lines up as follows:

Benn Kempster (unlikely to be found too far away from the catering station)
Daniel Plumeridge (sporting various shades of grey)
Gareth Darby (a Welsh, Luton Town fan)
Richard Ambrose (dragged away from the golf courses of England)
Peter Ambrose (fresh from supporting our Olympic heroes in Tokyo)
Matthew Bowyer (dying for a bacon roll)
Paul Orton (working with Dion Dublin on his new pad in Cheddington)
Michael Orton (STILL better at bowling than his brother)
James Steptoe (token Welshman)
Simon Stanway (no, he HASN’T applied for his bus pass yet……)
Mark Avery (wicketkeeper )
Richard Yates (Bear Grylls learnt all he knows from this bloke)
Shaun Rutherford (hoping mice haven’t eaten all his kit)

Scorer – Simon Wastling (bowlers name!)

Volunteers for Umpiring duties are most welcome!

Catering for Players and officials will be provided by Annie in a shameless throwback to cricket teas of the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s .

For spectators, the club bar will be open and the standard menu will be in operation throughout the day. Picnics are welcome but please do use the bar.
