In 1979, legendary Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee stepped up to the crease with an aluminum cricket bat. Thankfully his innovation didn’t catch on, otherwise the Thwack of willow striking leather would have been replaced by a tinny Tink, which would not have been an improvement as it echoed across the hills and dales of Tring.
