Cricket is just around the corner. TPCC Chairman Nick Wake reports on much to look forward to.

Cricket is around the corner!
This time next month – subject to the great British weather, we’ll be donning the whites and striding out of the pavilion to play the game we love. Those who have been to the club in recent weeks, will have sensed the eager anticipation for the coming season. We have a smartly refurbished balcony, freshly painted changing rooms (in club colours), a shiny new kitchen, courtesy of great work from Stuart Rolfe and team, and with Mr Doyle weaving his magic our two fines squares are looking resplendent. Bring it on. First home game for the 1s is April 20th, a friendly v Finchley, starting at 1pm.

Mother’s Day Lunch
Where would be without our mums? Make our clubhouse the venue to celebrate them this year, by booking your places directly with Claudia at tringcricketreservations@hotmail.co.uk or by calling 07801 021654. Lovely new kitchen. Same cracking chef. You won’t be disappointed.

Spring Clean: Saturday April 6.
Help us shine up the Pavilion ready for the new season. Volunteers to gather for 10am with tasks assigned by Guy Masters and Simon Wastling. Bacon butties when the work is done!

Club sign on Day: Sunday April 7.
For new members this is a great chance to get all your questions answered and to meet some friendly stalwarts of TPCC. The Junior Management Team will be out in force and new kit will be on sale.

Team News
Plans are progressing nicely for the coming season with most players indicating they are, once again, looking forward to bearing arms for TPCC. Only major changes in 1’s are David Brent and Liam Gough leaving to go to other clubs. To strengthen the squad, we have signed Steve Clark and Tom Weymes. We have also signed two new younger players in David Burnell and Scott Rolfe, while Nick Grant is coming over from Australia to play for the 2s. A further update from our esteemed Director of Cricket will be provided at the Pre-season Social!

The President’s tax-efficient fundraising campaign: Digital Upgrade
John Overy’s fundraising campaign for Pitch Vision and a new TV for the clubhouse, currently stands at £690 or 23% of our target from a dozen donations. The campaign closes at the end of April. Any donation, no matter how small, will take us a little closer to our target. Read a short message from our President and make your tax efficient donation to the cause here: https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/TPCCdigital-upgrade

New Women and Girl’s section sponsor
Is this the year of Girl Power? With the support of our new section sponsor, Pictons solicitors, along with the passion and drive from Sarah Woodall and Barrie Miles, it surely is. More news on subsidised Pictons branded shirts to follow soon.

On that note, look forward to seeing you all in the sunshine soon.
Best wishes
Nick
