U10 Tring win

On a lovely summer evening at Redbourn, Tring put the home team into bat on a very, very green track. Excellent opening spells from Kit & Joey, immediately put pressure on Redbourn, who scored limited runs and lost early wickets, after Kit cleaned bowled two batsmen. Jamie & Charlie then came onto bowl and both took wickets, with Charlie taking two quick wickets, which included very well taken catches from Rhys & Kit. Jake & Rhys then continued to mount more pressure on the Redbourn batsmen, with very accurate bowling. Jake sent the bails flying on two occasions, with cracking deliveries, while excellent fielding led to run outs. Ferdy & Dylan completed the bowling for Tring with plenty of crucial dot balls restricting the Redbourn total to 255-10, with Dylan picking up the last wicket, hitting middle stump.
The whole team fielded and bowled superbly throughout and never stopped working together and the encouragement, support and enthusiasm from the boys was great to see. Charlie & Ferdy both did a fantastic job behind ‘the sticks’ saving countless byes on a tricky pitch and outfield.
Having been set a respectable target, Tring were chasing for the first time this season. Joey & Dylan started off with solid straight bats against a good opening attack. However, in between some good shots and running between the wickets, Joey decided to go big with a fabulous ‘six’ which flew into the crowd. Kit & Jake then came to the crease and batted sensibly against some good bowling, picking up plenty of singles and some boundaries. Charlie & Jamie continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over, with some great shots straight out of the middle of their bats. Jamie also sent one into the crowd to add another ‘six’ which took Tring into the lead. The final pair, Rhys & Ferdy came in knowing that victory was in sight. Both boys batted intelligently and did not give Redbourn a chance. Not only were they the only pair not to lose a wicket, but they added plenty more runs to take Tring to 290-4
It was a fantastic display from the boys, particularly with their bowling and fielding, which was exceptional. Bowling so many ‘dot balls’ put the Redbourn batsmen under pressure, which resulted in the boys taking 10 wickets! With sensible, but positive batting the boys chased down the target, before stretching the winning margin to 35 runs.
Well done boys, keep it going!
