The club's 2018 Dinner & Awards night was held at the club on Saturday night and was once again a brilliant evening for all involved.

Rory Criddle's all-round performances for the First Team saw him pip teammates David Brent and Michael Payne to be crowned Player of The Year. Criddle had an outstanding season in the First Team, he scored some valuable late order runs, took 17 wickets and led the club in the field taking 12 catches.

The prestigious Clubman Of The Year Award was won by David Sidwell and was presented by the club's chairman Nick Wake. Sid has had an unbelievable season taking on the treasurer's role as well as the secretary's job and was undoubtedly a worthy winner. It was also announced that the Clubman Of The Year Award has now been renamed the John Knox Trophy in honour of a club legend.

Ant McCormack picked up the first award of the evening when he was named the club's Most Improved Player for 2018. McCormack started the season in the Fourth Team and ended it in the middle order for Toby Wastling's Second Team. The John Sullivan Wicket-Keeping Award was won by Steve Dutch ahead of fellow glovemen Joe Maggs and Jeremy O'Neill, Dutch picked up 19 dismissals this season which was the most for the club in 2018.

Second Team young stars Sheridon Gumbs and Lawrence Snookes picked up the main awards given to our younger players in senior cricket. Gumbs picked up the David Kempster Award for the best performance by and Under 16 in senior cricket for his brilliant 89 against Sonning in June. Snookes won the U21 Player of the Year award which he was awarded after his brilliant bowling performances for the Second Team this summer. Snookes picked up 18 wickets at an average of 14 with a strike-rate of just over 22.

The Lionel Hitchings Batting Award was won by Alan Sheppard who pipped Ali Partner and Jack Rodnight to win the award. Sheppard scored a brilliant 138 for our Fourth Team against Beaconsfield at the end of July.

First Team seamer Andy Harris won the Mike Evers Bowling Award for his 6-32 on his debut against High Wycombe on his club debut in May. His 6-32 also included a hat-trick as he led the club to memorable opening day win.

There was one more award after the delightful three course meal was served, Allrounder Mo Choudhry after picking up the Best Trainer Award a week earlier, clinched the traditional new player dance-off win beating the likes of David Brent, Andy Harris and are two Aussies.

It was a wonderful evening, many thanks to Darbs and the organising committee for all their hard work in arranging the evening and to Adam and Claudia and the catering team for providing a fantastic three course dinner.
