Well done to the Tring School Year 9 (U14) team who ran out winners in the final away to Leventhorpe School, Sawbridgeworth today.

There were 9 players from Tring Park in the team and they bowled exceptionally well to restrict Leventhorpe to 88/6 off their 20 overs. Wickets shared around with Ed Pike, Charlie Sweeting and Jacob Stewart taking early wickets. The catch of the match was completed by Louis Rudd at point from a hard cut shot from Sam Hawkins. Jake Shearer also took a wicket bowled. Sam Hawkins took their sixth wicket but the main thing was the lack of runs from good bowling and fielding.

Tring School were confident of knocking those runs off early however it seemed they were over confident and poor aerial shots from Ed Pike and Jacob Hendin after a good start left Tring School around 41/2 with Charlie and Ben Bezani at the wicket. Ben look assured with two nice boundarys however top edged an high full toss and was caught by the wicket keeper. Their spinner taking all three wickets.

Charlie looked like he was going to bat out the spinners last over but could not resist having a pop and spooned one up to be caught and we were 60/4 needing 29. Jack Graves skyed one and was again caught as Leventhorpe were great at accepting the gifts we were giving them. Sam Hawkins was unfortunately run out by his partner when there was never a run on. This left us 63/6 with 11 overs left, needing 26. Paddy and Jake kept their heads and brought home the win and the County Plate.
