Former overseas player Paul Wilson has been named as one of the 16 umpires that the ICC will use during the World Cup which starts next week.

Wilson played and coached at Tring Park in 2006, the club's first season in the Home Counties Premier League where he formed a formidable new ball partnership with Duncan Spencer. Wilson will be involved in 11 games during the World Cup with five of games as an on field umpire.

47-year-old Wilson played a sole Test for Australia in 1998 and also 11 one-day internationals in 1997-98. A Fast-medium bowler, 'Blocker' picked up 151 first class wickets for South Australia and Western Australia before retiring in 2006 to take up umpiring.

While this is first World Cup, Wilson has taken charge of 23 One Day Internationals and 11 Twenty20 internationals. Most recently he has taken charge of ODIs in India, New Zealand and the West Indies featuring the likes of Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle and Jos Buttler.

Everybody at the club would like to wish Paul the best of luck for World Cup.
