Despite Australia losing another series, our former overseas player Peter Handscomb scored two half centuries in three innings against India.

Pete who plundered over 1000 runs for Tring as our overseas player in 2011, showed his class in Australia's canary yellow as he played in his first one day internationals since 2017.

In the opening ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground, Pete top scored with 73 off 61 balls as he led his side to a match winning total of 288 from their 50 overs. Despite hitting a breezy 20 from 22 balls in the second match of the series in Adelaide, India won the match thanks to a hundred from their captain Virat Kohli to level the series. Pete once again top scored with 58 in the decider on Friday at his home ground the MCG, but Australia's total was never going to be good enough as India clinched the series with a seven wicket win.

Despite the defeats, Pete's performances give him an excellent chance to make Australia's World Cup squad when they travel to England this summer. With his international season in Australia likely to be over, Peter will be concentrating on captaining Victoria to their fourth Sheffield Shield title in the last five seasons when it resumes next month.
